Maybe it’s just me and I have passed an dull life, but I have long felt that my generation (the Baby Boomers) has not lived a great age of adventure. Sure, there have been great scientific and technological discoveries…but real adventure? I don’t think there have been as many of them as in the past.
The Second World War generation certainly had them. Some of them terrible in their outcomes. I recently came across (in Medium, author John Bull) a tremendous story of bravery and adventure from the early days of the War in the Pacific. No guns blazing, just “seat of the pants” flying and defying odds at every turn. Surely this should be a movie!
If you have a few minutes, have a read. And reflect on your own adventures. Mine came up a bit short in the comparison.
